In Russian, ’search engine advertising’ is ‘контекстная реклама‘, i.e. ‘context advertising’. There are a few experts on Russian market. But the most exciting thing is that Google doesn’t have big popularity in so-called RUnet (Russian part of Internet). Neither AdWords does.
In Russia, Google for the time being has only 25% of all search engine traffic. But the situation with AdWords and AdSense is even worth. Google cannot pay Russian webmasters with any convenient way - only with cheques that are almost not used in Russia.
There is a problem with advertisers, too: Google cannot give all the necessary documents to them - laws in Russia demand that accountants have all the documents in paper, signed and sealed.
So, Russian market of search engine advertising is quite specific, so it is strongly recommended to ask a local pro to create & maintain SEA camaigns for you.
